Project Description

The Clinic of Pediatric Oncology and Haematology in Szczecin is located on Rolna Street, on the developmental area of the West Pomerania Oncological Health Center. The designed hospital is a clinic, that apart from treating and nursing patients, carries out scientific researches and performs didactic functions. The idea of the project is a creation of “an organism”, of which functional and spatial system is well readable and functions are separated, however, appropriate and efficient connections between them are preserved. In order to cope with that requirement, the building is divided into five parts connected by two links. The glazed hallway, opening on Oder panorama, is an element that joins three blocks of the building which are moved in the direction of Rolna Street and two others in the depth of the plot, that are additionally connected by the lower diagnostic surgical part.

The master’s thesis “The Clinic of Pediatric Oncology and Haematology in Szczecin”, made at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin under the direction of dr hab. inż. arch. Marek Czyński, was awarded by the Mayor of Szczecin in 2009.
